It's one of those related health professions, which involves the study of both the acute effects and long-term adaptive modifications to exercise. The field incorporates many different sciences, including exercise science, exercise physiology, exercise methodology, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. Then you need to complete a four-year master's degree, which must be related to the field of exercise physiology. Some programs take one year to complete. And you'll likely want to take additional education after completing a bachelor's degree, including a second year in human anatomy or chemistry, a science degree specializing in athletic studies, or a medical degree specializing in physiological or nursing sciences. After you graduate from a four year college or university, you'll need to pass an exam, called the MCQP, in order to become an exercise physiologist.
