Background • Board members have been compensated at $30 per Board meeting since 1978 (maximum of 3 meetings per month) • Current law allows Board members to be compensated $100 per day (maximum of 10 days per month) for: • Board meetings, committee meetings and other meetings where attendance is required • Other service rendered as a member of the Board at the request of the Board
Other Agencies Compensation • MRWPCA - $100 per Board meeting (day) up to $600 per month (Committee & other meetings included at same rate subject to the $600 maximum) • PBCSD - $100 per meeting up to $600 per month (Committee & other meetings payable at $50 per meeting subject to the $600 maximum) • CAWD - $100 per meeting up to $600 per month (Committee & other meetings payable at $50 per meeting subject to the $600 maximum)

Ordinance No. 113 • Amendment No. 1: • Page 165, Finding 4, line 1 should read “Water Code Section §20201 allows Water Management District Board Member compensation to be at one hundred dollars ($100) per day …”
Ordinance No. 113 • Amendment No. 2: • Page 166, Section 3, last sentence of paragraph should read “Director compensation shall not exceed a total of five (5) days in any calendar month.”
Ordinance No. 113 • If approved, the increase would become effective on the 61st day after second reading • Thereafter, the compensation amount could be increased each calendar year by 5% • Any future increases would require additional ordinances
Recommendation • The Administrative Committee reviewed this item at its March 10, 2004 meeting and recommended approval • First reading, with amendments, was approved at the March 15, 2004 Board meeting by a vote of 5-2 • Board should accept public comment on the draft ordinance, as amended, and approve the second reading
