  2. Preparation to meet clients • Personas for ‘typical’ passenger • To think as different users • elderly passenger, family, frequent business traveller • Identified high level goals • Reduce time spent in airport • Reduce cost per head • Plan for meeting • Brainstorm to find new ways of doing check-in • Questions to check our understanding • Security, check-in process, performance

  3. The meeting • Did not brainstorm the process • All meeting participants were airport management company • Time constraints • Use case workshop • Should have presented Activity Diagram for discussion, not created it. • Did discuss how the new system would be different • Discussion at high level • Asked about the ‘work’

  4. Outcomes • Booths for ‘new generation’ biometric passports • ‘old’ passports holders to use manned counters • Identified new top level goal • Increase flights from the airport • Increasing throughput – how • Booth check-in will be slower than existing check-in process • Booths accept passengers for ALL airlines so reduce queues • Identified major issue • Attaching luggage label would require a new solution

  5. Follow-up Team meeting • Developed solutions for the luggage labelling • Strong debate over scope • Diagram illustrated one solution • Written descriptions for each option • Is an open issue • Goal model of whole system • Used White board • Challenging to frame the ‘work’ in terms of goals

  6. Latest Work • Volere snow cards • Developing detailed descriptions for proposed goals • Using (informal) quality gateway • Volere Requirements Template • An outline has been created

  7. Open Issues • Families sharing luggage • scales to check if adult allowance is exceeded • Next step • Luggage labelling • Get client decision – go/no go decision
