The research and planning stage. Our group used online sources such as google which increased the credibility and accuracy of our research. Google search was very useful in gathering information about the thriller genre and historical aspects of it. For the accurate and specific conventions of the opening title sequence of a thriller film, we used websites such as IMDB ( Internet Movie Database ), Youtube, and specific film websites.
College VLE We also used information and links from the VLE to gain information to aid us with our media course work and final film. We used power points, links and lesson recaps on the VLE to do this. This improved our validity, accuracy and quality of our work quite majorly. They gave our work a strong structure for the future marking.
The art of the TITLE • Analysing our opening title sequences was a great help to me as it helped realize all the conventions and systematic boundaries and levels of an opening title sequence. It was a great experience as I then took all that I had learnt and put it into my own opening title sequence. This made our film look well put together and professional. We learnt how to and why to make the the text correspond with the films nature and where they were going to be placed to add overall narration to the piece.
The film planning • We planned the film using story boarding with pen and paper, but we watched other thriller genre opening title sequences to inspire us and so we could polish our piece. We made it so the sound track was eerie, tense and load to add tension to our final film. We got the idea to use this kind of soundtrack from watching thriller genre opening titles on Youtube and the IMDB. We decided to use the titles we used as they were bold, stood out and added to the narrative of our film.
The PowerPoint • The reason we used power point for this presentation is that we can illustrate the slides with images. Also the content can be easily divided into sections which make the information more clear and easier to read and present.
Communication • We used facebook and mobiles to communicate out of lesson to discuss our ideas and our filming schedules. These methods were very effective and useful as we had 24/7 communicational access. We also used the quack media blog to comminicate and to share and improve our course work .
