Early Life Martin Van Buren didn’t finish high school. He supported the American Revolution.
Younger Martin He married his distant cousin, Hannah. They had four sons. His nickname was Little Mat.
Martin Van Buren as mayor.
Accomplishments He made good laws. He got to have four jobs – lawyer, Governor of New York, Secretary of State, and President. Martin was a good President and lawyer.
Accomplishments He was founder of two-party system In United States politics. He was founder of the party caucus.

Retirement After President Van Buren lost the election in 1843 to Zachary Taylor, he decided to retire from political life. Many of his accomplishments were soon forgotten, but everyone remembered that he was once the President of the United States.
