Study Goals • Improve pedestrian, ADA, and bicycle safety and connectivity to businesses, residents, and existing facilities • Ensure vehicular progression and Level of Service to balance improvements for all modes • Foster meaningful community participation for the entire corridor Riverside Dr. California Ave.
Study Goals • Coordinate improvements with development, residential and business needs • Identify logical, buildable phases to maintain progress over time • Highlight aesthetics and improve the user’s experience throughout the corridor Reno High School Keystone at I-80
Example Deficiencies andPotential Solutions • Issue: • 2. Poor pedestrian routing and circulation • Opportunities: • Add signing to avoid south sidewalk dead end • Consider ramping at Foster overpass versus existing stairs • Include full pedestrian facilities with any new intersection design

Crash rate is higher (3.05) than statewide averages (2.41) • Opportunities: • Propose safety improvements such as refined signal timing, signal coordination, and eliminating permitted left turn movements • Review and implement NDOT Roadside Safety Audit recommendations
Example Deficiencies andPotential Solutions • Issue: • 36. Difficulty backing in/out of residential driveways that front Keystone • Opportunities: • Incorporate buffer space in proposed Keystone roadway section if possible
Keystone Avenue BridgeOver the Truckee River • Originally built in 1966 • The bridge is in poor shape • Sufficiency rating 28 / 100 • “Structurally deficient” • Does not provide pedestrian or bicycle facilities • The California / Keystone intersection and the Truckee River Flood Project are key considerations
