The maximum transfer speeds are: • The maximum data transfer speed, in practice, is depending on the setup of the local cellular network, the distance to the nearest base station, the cell size, the level of utilization of the network and so on.
Route option Definition Ethernet WAN A separate router is used to reach the internet Mobile WAN The cellular network is used to reach the internet Ethernet WAN backup GW A backup router is used in case of primary router malfunction WAN default route A selection between static routes and VPN logic routing WAN failover on demand A backup interface is enabled only when required, vs. "always on" Primary WAN interface Primary WAN interface definiton Backup WAN interface Backup WAN interface definiton Secondary backup WAN interface Secondary backup WAN interface definiton VPN client WAN/LAN interface Defines which Interface to use for connection via VPN VPN client routing mode Type of network available behind the VPN (None/host/net/default route) Main features -II Main features Slide 2/5 • The Arctic 3G Gateway offers several possibilities for routing options:
Main features -III Main features Slide 3/5 • The high security is implemented with: • Virtual Private Network (VPN) • Strong encryption/hash: DES, 3DES, AES/MD5, SHA1 • Firewall • Username/password authentication for administrator and root user
Main features -IV Main features Slide 4/5 • The industry grade reliability is implemented with the following techniques: • Robust embedded Linux platform • High quality components and design • Flash memory, no moving parts (e.g. hard disk drive) • Protection for reversed input voltage • Aluminium casing • Internal watchdog • Monitor for ping targets
Main features -V Main features Slide 5/5 • Remote management helps with the administrative tasks and is essential with the devices that are located at remote sites • Management can be implemented via VPN tunnel • SSH command line login can be allowed (from everywhere or LAN only) or prohibited

DIN rail attachment • Arctic 3G has grooves for optional DIN rail mounting brackets. • Mounting accessories include two DIN rail mounting brackets and four screws. (In picture product 2620, the 2622 mounting brackets are different) • The brackets can be installed horisontally or vertically to the bottom of the Arctic 3G gateway. This allows wide variety of installation positions.

SIM card insertion 1. Turn off the unit 2. Insert the SIM card into the slot so that the contacts are facing down and the notched corner is facing out 3. Gently push the card into the slot with pointy object, e.g. with an unfolded paper clip 4. The card is in place when the notch of the card is inside the slot and behind the spring lever SIM card removal • To remove the SIM card from the slot, press the small lever in front of the SIM card ’s notched corner. Push from up to down; not from outwards to inwards
LED State Description Green ON Link established OFF Link not established Blinking Data received Yellow ON Full duplex OFF Half duplex Ethernet ports • There are four Ethernet ports in the device. Ports are compatible with IEEE 802.3i (10BASE-T) and IEEE 802.3x (100BASE-TX) • The WAN port is for connecting upstream towards gateway to internet. If Arctic is directly connected to a computer via WAN port, a cross cable is needed • The LAN ports support MDI/MDIX detection, i.e. both cross connected and straight connected cables can be used • WAN and LAN ports can be interchanged Green Yellow
Serial ports Serial ports Slide 1/4 • There are three serial ports in the device. • RS1 port is for RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 connectivity • RS2 port is for RS-232 connectivity only • In addition to the two RS-ports, the console port is also connected with RS-232. It is differentiated from the RS1/RS2-ports by the connector type, which is RJ-45.
