What narrative is given to us , and from this what do we expect the rest of the film's narrative will be from the information that we have been given? • Space – spaced ship toy • Surrounding – there is a lot of dust and its effecting the way people live • Man and his daughter live amongst the dust

  4. Who is the target audience for this film, how do we know this from the opening scene? • Target audience: 25+ • Men – scientific, danger • White – all actors are white • Lower to Upper class

  5. How is the genre of the film set up in the opening scene? What key conventions have been used? • Man has a dream about flying a spaceship • Scared of something • Has a dream • Older generation explain how they lived at the time

What cameras work has been used and why?What sound is used and how does it effect the narrative and characters?What editing techniques have been used and why? • Close up on mans, sweating face • Diegetic sound of surroundings • Voice over on some of the clips • Cutaway shot of elderly people in an interview

  7. Do you think this is a successful opening scene? • I think that this is a successful opening scene, as it gives small details as to how the movie is going to go without revealing the storyline.
