  8. Today’s Topic Longitude measures the distance east and west of the Prime Meridian • the Prime Meridian is 0 degrees • longitude lines go up to 180 degrees East and 180 degrees West. Latitude measure the distance north and south of the equator • the equator is 0 degrees • latitude lines go up to 90 degrees North (at the north pole) and South (at the south pole) Latitude and Longitude give you coordinates to find location. Write the latitude line first! • Example: 45N, 39W
