Strategy Discussions and meetings with right holders Exposure visits and capacity building exercises Focus Group Discussion with collectors and Gujjars/graziers etc. Consensus building strategy (species, areas, tenureal security, practices, benefit sharing) Baseline study Management plan + institutional design+ bye laws Benefit evaluation from improved processing Marketing plan
Key Outputs Consensus amongst collectors/right holders Baseline study Management plan Village/forest/cluster level institutions Planned extraction of NTFPs Higher volumes/quality in long run Improved processing Marketing interventions
Support needed • From FD right through esp. planning + legal support • Financial support for regeneration of MAPs, Nursery Development and other forest produce (according to management plan) • Financial support for– 2 + 1 staff • Technical inputs – Nursery development/ propagation/ sustainable Harvest • Similar interventions in nearby valley/area • Marketing tie ups at higher level • From collectors and right holders
Risk Factors • Consensus may not emerge • Few short term results • Initial restriction to nearby forests • Management costs may be very high • Rule breakers not caught/punished • No benefit from processing / marketing interventions
