Civil Rights Statement This meeting is being held to afford all citizens the right to understand the project and comment on concerns to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The meeting is being held to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Project History • Routine Maintenance • Several Attempts Over the Past Decade to Correct/Prevent Further Erosion • Previous Project (Project No. 406407-1-52-01) • Constructed in 2002 • Included Plantings, Erosion Control Mats, Sand-Cement Ditch Blocks, a Gabion Basket, and Rubble Rip-Rap • January 2006 • Removal of Overgrowth; Inclusion of Additional Sand-Cement Bags SR 434 Outfall Ditch FPID No. 423513-1-52-01
Existing Conditions • Ditch has Deepened, Causing Severe Bank Erosion on Both Sides • Erosion is Encroaching on the Surrounding Residents’ Backyards • Neighbors have Built Retaining Walls • Residential Fences are Beginning to Lean and Lose Stability • Ditch is Difficult for Florida Department of Transportation to Maintain • Hard to Access • Costly to Maintain Headwall at SR 434 Concrete Block Wall Existing Vegetation Growth SR 434 Outfall Ditch FPID No. 423513-1-52-01
