  1. Warm Up: How to Read Lit Chs. 6-9: Allusions Divide your paper into 4 categories. Label each section: • Shakespeare • Greek Mythology • Fairy Tales • The Bible After, brainstorm with a partner/group everything you can think of for each category (characters, plot points, stories, symbols, quotes, etc.). Use HRLChs. 6-9 to help you!!

  2. “Where are you going, where have you been?” What were your immediate impressions of the short story? How did you feel after reading it? Why? What symbols/themes/archetypes stood out to you as important? Why? How did the story incorporate fantasy and reality? Provide examples from the story if you can. One interpretation of the story is that when Connie fell asleep, she dreamed Arnold Friend’s visit. What do you think?? Was the visit real or a dream? What evidence supports both interpretations?
