Current (30-Day) Youth Smoking (YRBSS, 2003) Kentucky has the highest rate of youth smoking among the 33 states participating in the YRBSS.
Current (30-Day) Underage Drinking (YRBSS, 2003) Kentucky’s rate of youth drinking is not among the highest in the nation, but it is higher than most of the surrounding states.
Current (30-Day) Youth Marijuana Use (YRBSS, 2003) While not in the top group of states of youth marijuana use, Kentucky (and its neighboring states) show relatively high levels of use.
Current (30-day) Youth Inhalant Use (YRBSS, 2003) Kentucky is within the highest group of states with respect to inhalant use.

Everyday Smoking (BRFSS, 2003) Kentucky has the highest rate of smoking in the nation for adults.
Smoking Trends (BRFSS) Kentucky’s smoking rate has actually increased, in comparison with the national trend.
At Risk Drinking (BRFSS, 2003) Adult drinking in Kentucky is not as great a concern as is it for underage and young sub-groups.
