CAT FREEDOM Accessible Taxi service
CAT Freedom • Welcome • CAT Freedom • Taxi Voucher Program • Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) Program • Contractor Responsibilities
CAT Freedom CAT Freedom is an accessible service designed to meet most needs of passengers as well as many ADA-certified riders who avail themselves to taxis as a satisfactory alternative to our Chatham Area Transit Teleride—our ADA-compliant van service.
CAT Freedom • Chatham Area Transit is looking to partner with a taxi service that is willing to help expand mobility assistance to our disabled community county-wide.
CAT Freedom • Taxis have the potential to increase the mobility of many travelers with disabilities if those taxis are fully accessible to the wide range of people with disabilities.
Taxi Voucher Program The taxi voucher incentive program offers a 50% discount on cost to people defined as having a disability under the ADA definition therein.
Taxi Voucher Program • The taxi voucher debit card can be used for taxi trips that go beyond the ADA service area. • The debit card can be used during times that ADA paratransit is not available. • The debit card can also be used for same-day service, 24/7.
How does it work? • Eligibility and application for the Taxi Voucher Program will be a part of the Teleride application process and will require the same physician or other professional verification forms. • Eligible individuals will be allowed to purchase up to $100.00 worth of credit on their taxi voucher debit card per month, which will cost them only $50.00.
Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) Program GRH ensures a ride home for those who regularly take the bus, vanpool, carpool, bike, or walk to work and find themselves facing unexpected schedule changes.
How does it work? • The GRH program ensures a ride home if, for example, a family emergency suddenly arises that requires the rider to leave work, or if unscheduled but mandatory overtime is issued by an employer; being enrolled in the GRH program gets the commuter home.
Who is eligible? • To be eligible for a free ride Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH), the employer must be a participant in the CAT Freedom GRH program. • The rider must be a commuter who walks or rides the bus, vanpool, carpool, or bike to work or school at least three (3) times per week.
