Sit-In Protest in Jackson, 1963: Challenging Segregation

This account from 1963 Jackson, Miss., delves into a sit-in protest that echoes the contested ideas in Brown vs. Board of Education. High school students stood against segregation, symbolized by a student with a derogatory word painted on his back. Today, sitting anywhere with people of all kinds reflects progress. The debate shifts from old days to now, suggesting changing attitudes. American culture is examined through the lens of a black counter for Negroes, highlighting past segregation's impact. This sit-in reflects the evolving struggles and triumphs in civil rights movements.

  2. Sit-in Jackson, Miss.,1963 • This relate to the ideas were contested in brown vs. board or education because they will have protest and they will not listen to the cops. The high school student had on a white shirt and the word “higger” was written on his back with red spray paint. The issue is not being debated because we get to sit anywhere now days with whites and all kind we don’t have to sit differently then whites and others. The various opinions are they probably liked now days and not the old days. My opinion is to stick with now days and not the old days because now days are perfect and old days were ungrateful and horrible. This reveal about American culture because blacks had a black counter for negroes for where they would be severed at. It was keeping with the brown because it was with segregation. They decided to change the law or set camp for the people.
