What Education is not… • It does not mean teaching people what they do not know. • It is not teaching the youth the shapes of letters and the trick of numbers and leaving them to turn their arithmetic to roguery and their literature to lust “It is a painful, continual and difficult to work to be done by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept and by praise, but above all by example.”
Administration: • Transparent, sincere and impartial administration. • Democratic decision-making involving students and faculty’s confidence . • Follow rules and regulations in letter and spirit by taking teachers, students’ and staff in to confidence so that resistance for change may disappear. • Paperless administration. • Value addition to degree certificate. • Adhering strictly to academic calendar. • Students’ data online (for parents). • No personal bias and no tolerance to un-academic, unethical interference.
Curricula design • Modifying curricula for all faculties taking into consideration industry needs, Specific needs of the state and the nation. • Autonomy to the deserved (not desired). • Decentralization of power, decision-making with responsibility and accountability. • Strict internal academic and financial auditing. • Teaching to concentrate on learning to life-long learn. • Change the old traditional framework with strict rules and regulations that disallow to cross boundaries between different faculties. • No compromise on quality and academic standards.
Reforms in Examination System • Credit-based grading system with continuous evaluation. • Testing knowledge gained, not memory capacity. • Special attention for student with rural background • Stress on ethics and professionalism
Financial Management • Transparency in financial management with optimum utilization of resources. • Collaboration with industries and national R&D institutions. • Help government agencies to solve their real-life problems via consultancy. • Strengthen alumni network and approach them for contributions. • Meetings by teleconference, when possible.
Research & Development • Inter-disciplinary courses and cooperative research. • Encouraging pure as well as applied research. • Collaboration with CSIR, DRDO, ISRO and other R&D organizations and industries. • Coordination between different departments and faculties. • Building bridges, not walls. • Improving financial status through consultancy, grants and aids. • Focus on research with futuristic national requirement that can solve our socioeconomic problems.
Approach for Institution Building • Build on strength of various faculties by indentifying the talent and motivating them. • Remove weaknesses, if any. • Make use of opportunities around. • Decisions of Board of Management, Academic Council, Senate to be made known to all concerned faculties and student bodies. • Motto: “Let us do great things together”.
