  10. It should be taken into account that coolants are highly dissolvent for deposits in the cooling system and have a much higher penetration capacity than pure water. If the cooling system has not been cleaned and components damaged by corrosion were not replaced, abrasive mini-particles become detached after the system has been filled with new coolant, and these remain in the uncleaned motor. The consequence of this is that the cooling system becomes contaminated as the vehicle is operated. The particles inevitably find their way into the sealing gap of the mechanical seal. This seal needs the coolant as a lubricant. All types of deposit accelerate wear and tear and adversely affect the sealing function. Consequence: The water pump soon leaks more than is permissible.
