In Conclusion . . . • Independent proprietary institutions have a long history in Illinois—dating back to the Civil War—of serving the educational needs of students. • We have a diverse student population of both traditional and non-traditional students. • Programs of study have evolved in the 20th century from their roots in business and vocational training to advanced degrees that meet both academic and career needs of today’s students. • Our campuses directly contribute nearly half a billion dollars annually to the Illinois economy through employment of faculty and staff, purchase of goods and services, rents, and taxes paid. • Our graduates, with their higher lifetime earning potential, contribute further to the state’s economy. • Our campuses, students, alumni, faculty and staff have a proud record of community service and responsible citizenship.
