  1. A list all of all the Titans (and some other powerful deities)of Greek mythology The Titans

  2. The Titans in general The Titans are the predecessors to the Olympian gods, not much is know about some of them. Each one represents a different “element” or “essential” such as light or water. Like the Olympians there are twelve important Titans and a few lesser ones. Many would call them “evil” but really there is nothing evil about them at all. One have given us fire and another have created the universe as we know it.

  3. Gaea Gaea is the earth titan, she married Uranus to produce the other titans. She created the universe and the first humans. She was rumored to be an earth- mother that was worshiped before the development of Hellenistic civilization.

  4. Uranus Uranus is the titan of the sky and was the first ruler. He is the son of Gaea (he was born with no father and then married his mother.) His rule ended when one of his many children (Cronus) killed him. He either died of his wounds or departed from the world. (Uranus is the one on the throne on the right.)

  5. Cronus The titan who took over the rule of the titans by killing his father Uranus. His wife was Rhea (she gave birth to the first Olympians) Cronus then ate all the ruling Olympians to ensure his rule. This then led to the war between the Titans and the Olympians.

  6. Rhea Rhea was the wife of Cronus, since he ate the early Olympians she tricked Cronus into swallowing a rock instead of Zeus.

  7. Oceanus and Tethys These Titans both share their dominance over water, together they produce all steams and rivers in the world. However Oceanus is the unending water that was believed to circle the world. (The picture above is Oceanus only.)

  8. Hyperion Hyperion is the Titan of light, and was the early son god. He is the father of Helius (The sun), Selene (The moon), and Eos (The dawn.)

  9. Mnemosyne She is the Titan of memory and is the mother of the Muses

  10. Themis Themis is the titan of justice and order. She is the mother the Fates and the seasons. You may recognize her from any court building.

  11. He has no special significance, he is only the father of Prometheus, Epimetheus, Menoetius, and Atlas. He was married to Cleymene who’s only purpose was to give birth to these Titans. (No pictures available) Iapetus

  12. The Titan of intelligence, he is the father of Leto. (Leto is the mother of Apollo and Artemis) (Picture not available) Coeus

  13. Not much is known about Crius and Thea, so little infact that there is no data or pictures. Unknowns

  14. Phoebe Pheobe is the Titan of the Moon and the Mother of Leto. (See Coeus slide for more information on Leto.)

  15. Prometheus Prometheus is the wisest of the Titans, his name means forethought. He was able to tell the future and fought with the Olympians in the war against the Titans. He is the protector and benefactor of man he gave us many gifts including fire. However he was imprisoned for this offense by Zeus and chained to a rock for eternity and have an eagle eat his liver every day.

  16. Epimetheus Brother to Prometheus he is the stupidest of the Titans. His name meaning afterthought. He is sometimes credited with helping to make mankind along with his brother.

  17. Atlas Atlas lead the Titans in the battle due to Cronus’ advanced age. Because of this he was singled out for the punishment to hold the sky above the world.
