An acronym is a word formed from the first letters of a series of words. CIAUNNATO Do not use periods with acronyms
Spell out the names of states and other political units when they stand alone. Abbreviate them in titles, notes, and bibliographies. London, U.K. Dublin, Ire.
Use A.D. and B.C. for era designations When used with a specific number, the letters come first. When used with the name of a century, it comes after. In A.D. 1452, the Ottoman Turks invaded Constantinople. Cleopatra was a Greek-speaking queen of Egypt in the first century B.C.
