Tutorial Review The Tutorial Process
Before the Tutorial • Write two Level 2 or 3 questions • Be sure to BRING TO CLASS any notes, books, or other resources to help members of your group help YOU!! • Be sure to write a learning outcome/goal for each question!
During the Tutorial: The Presenter • Write your question on the whiteboard. • READ your question aloud to the group!!! • Note any information neatly as you work on your tutorial question.
During the Tutorial: Group Members • Ask the presenter guiding questions rather than giving answers: For Example, “What would happen if…? Have you tried….? What do you already know…? Etc. • Record each presenter’s question and take Cornell Notes as he/she presents. • Stay focused on the presenter, NO SIDE CONVERSATIONS!
Moving Into Groups • Everyone stays seated and quiet to listen while tutors call out groups and locations • Take all of your belongings and go to your area. • Make a “U” shape, not a circle or weird squarish shape or any other!! • Desks should be close together!! • This should not take more than 2 minutes!!!!!
After the Tutorial • Write your reflection. Be sure to say how you participated; • Did you ask questions to the presenter? • Did you pay attention and stay focused? • How does tutorial connect to your outside classes? • What did you accomplish/learn/undertand? • Remember, it is about the process and not every question will get answered!!
Summary • Write a paragraph about the tutorial process and your own personal goal for participation in tomorrow’s tutorial.
