  2. ELEMENT OF THE DAY • 54 – Xenon – Xe • Xenon is one of the only noble gases that can be made to form compounds. Passing high voltage electricity through xenon gives it a violet glow. • Xenon is used in certain incandescent light bulbs to let them burn brighter and hotter because xenon has very low thermal conductivity - For example in the bulbs of IMAX projectors, and those annoyingly bright headlights.
