  2. ELEMENT OF THE DAY • 53 – Iodine – I • Iodine is a solid at room temperature, but it melts and turns to a violet vapor very easily. • It is dissolved in alcohol and used as a disinfectant. It’s actually the alcohol that stings. • Iodine is needed by the body, so most table salt today is iodized.
