Coastal Community Vocabulary . 1. abiotic. A= without Bio= life Nonliving parts in an environment Ex: rocks, water, air, salt. 2. biotic. Bio= life Living parts in an environment Ex: plants, animals, bacteria. 3. detritus. any disintegrated material; debris.

19. Point source pollution • single identifiable localized source of air, water, thermal, noise or lightpollution. • Ex: smoke stack, street light ,wastewater, jet engine noise
20. Non-point pollution • water from rainfall and snowmelt flows through the landscape, carrying contaminants from many different sources. • Ex: farming pesticides, fertilizers on golf courses, landscaping, pools
