Writers Guild of America 2007 Strike
The strike was called against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, an organization which represents nearly 400 American film and TV producers, including CBS, NBC, MGM, Sony, and others because the Minimum Basic Agreement was not seen as satisfactory.
The issues where agreement could not be reached was DVD residuals, union jurisdiction over animation and reality program writers, and compensation for "new media" (content written for or distributed through emerging digital technology such as the Internet).
In February 2008, the strike was settled with a contract that addressed most of the issues, but left several to be further negotiated. A full set of contract language can be found at the Futon Critic’s website ( http://www.thefutoncritic.com/guide.aspx?id=wga_deals )
