  2. “Librarians are rethinking traditional library services – are doing work that is new, challenging, more rewarding and more valuable for their communities - they are embracing the embedded librarian concept” (Shumaker, 24).

  3. Definition: A librarian who participates in an online course by providing reference, instructional services and resources to enrolled students.

  6. Relationships • Mutual value • Understanding • Trust • Confidence

  7. Implementing the Pilot • Added to most classes • E-mail each class • Went into most classes to explain what I was doing

  8. Best Practices • Work with faculty • Campus community • Collaborative space

  9. Evaluation • Survey • Library much busier • Get more e-mails from students • Request from faculty to spend 15-20 minutes in classroom
