  2. OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMS • International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) • Canada World Youth • AIESEC • Capilano College

International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)-offers post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain valuable international development work experience-participants are youth (ages 19-30 inclusive) that have demonstrated high achievement at the post-secondary level in fields related to international development, but need assistance to successfully launch their career by gaining advanced employability skills & career-related work experience-Internships are for a minimum of 6 months, and include at least 5 months working outside Canada.

  4. How does the IYIP Work? • Organizations (including non-governmental organizations, private-sector companies, and academic institutions) submit proposals for international projects to CIDA. • Once approved, sponsor organizations select young professionals for overseas assignments, prepare them for departure & reintegration, including cross-cultural training.

  5. Canada World Youth • Canadian Non-Governmental Organization offering international exchange experiences for youth • Annually supports approximately 900 volunteers who participate in a North-to-South and South-to-North exchange between Canada and 24 countries in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.

  6. CWY Cont… • Program is organized in a framework that includes volunteer work projects, stays with host families, and days reserved for exploring inter-cultural realities & development issues. • A key organizational goal is to create a network of people of different backgrounds and cultures united by mutual respect and understanding.

  7. AIESEC • Student-run international exchange organization. • Mandate is to develop and improve employment opportunities and skills of university students through international internship exchanges. • 87 member countries; comprised of more than 800 participating university chapters; representing over 50,000 members world-wide.

  8. Capilano College • Latin America Management Program (LAMP) • Graduate management co-op program that has been designed to legitimize the value of an intercultural, interdisciplinary, humanistic and environmentally conscious management approach • 2 part program-8 month academic term in Canada followed by 1-year co-op internship in Latin America.
