Network Engineering • Responsible for ongoing design of the iiNet national network • Currently consists of approximately 450 network devices • Largest router is a Cisco GSR 12416 – 7 ft tall and weighs 440lbs • Internet gateway routers hold 950,000 routes to the Internet at any one time, so we’re not starved for choice • Customer-facing routers service about 30,000 users each • In the time it takes you to read this line, iiNet customers have downloaded over 10 Gigabytes of “stuff” and sent more than 2 million data packets

Development • Use Open Source development tools • Maintain half a million lines of code • Dedicated development network running VMWare with 168GHz of CPU available • Responsible for Authentication, Bandwidth, VOIP and Broadband management • Customer provisioned on the iiNet network in under 60 seconds

  12. ITS • Responsible for the internal network, systems and PCs; including the VCC • 102 Servers across 7 sites (in 3 data centres and 4 offices) • 700 PCs and notebooks • 100MB from your desktop to the internet (full access, and no delay for youtube) • 3TB storage just for staff email
