SFU –Math Requirement • To satisfy the quantitative skills requirement all applicants must present a minimum grade of 70% in the applicable math course required for admission. • Applicants with a grade of 60-69% must either: • Score a 70% (20/30) on a Diagnostic Skills Exam • Or • Achieve at least a “C” grade in a Foundational Course within the 1st 30 credits at SFU. Note: Students below 60% will be denied admission to SFU

  9. SFU –Literacy Requirement All students must demonstrate their competence in English literacy as part if the admission process. This can be demonstrated through achievement in grade 12 courses, transfer courses or by other means. Students who do not meet these targets may still be accepted but will be required to take a foundational learning course to review and improve their skills. A grade of 75% or higher in Eng 12 or Eng lit 12, you have met this requirement. A grade of 60-74% before you are admitted to SFU, you must score a 4 or better on the essay portion of the LPI and 50% on parts 1-3, or be required to take a Foundation of Academic Literacy course once you are at SFU. Note: Below 60% will not be admitted

  11. Admission Requirements Douglas College Has moved to priority registration. Students are accepted with general entry requirements (English 12 “C” or its equivalent), but for course selection your students time will be assigned by GPA based on high school marks of Eng 12, Principles of Math 11 and one provincially examinable grade12 course. Admission requirements must still be checked for each specific program. Kwantlen University/College Students are accepted with general entry requirements (English 12 “C” or its equivalent). Each Career Program has specific requirements Capilano College University Transfer Students are admitted based on their GPA of English 12 and three other provincially examinable grade 12 courses.   13. Admission Requirements British Columbia Institute of Technology • Each Technology Programs has specific requirements. Entrance is competitively based. • Some programs are not accessible to students directly from high school • Trade programs are have continuous enrolment, waitlists should be researched. Students may want to consider writing Pre-tests in Grade 12 to enhance wait list opportunities.

  14. Entry Level Trade Training Programs: ELTT What is it? Training to prepare students for entry-level employment in a trade area of their choice. Where can I apply? • Most schools offering trade programs have ELTT programs: • BCIT • Kwantlen University/College • Vancouver Community College Apprenticeship Upon completion of a program, students may seek employment as apprentices. Also receive their Level 1 training certification

LPI (Language Proficiency Index) • An examination that provides the universities and colleges with a way to determine a students competence in summary and essay writing and in the recognition of common errors in English usage and sentence structure. All students regardless of country of origin or citizenship are required to demonstrate this competence • This is not an admission requirement for University/College, it is a requirement before a student can enroll in a first year English course Scoring University: requires a Level 5 Community College: Requires a level 4 Exemptions An “A” BC English 12 or Literature 12 (school mark plus government exam) Exceptions Langara College and UVIC require a final English 12 mark of 86% Currently BCIT and UBC-Okanagan do not require the LPI SFU requires a final English 12 mark of 75%

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) The SAT is intended for students applying for admission to college or university in the US The SAT measures verbal reasoning and mathematical problem solving There are two tests: SAT for admission and the Subject test for placement. French Immersion SFU French Co-hort Program • Pursue Post-Secondary education in French within your own province • Faculty of Arts and Science • Students receive a BA in Public Administration and Community Services • Major in Political Science with an extended minor in French or • Major in French with and Extended minor in Political Science • Courses are limited to 25 students • 1 semester students attend a Francophone university in Canada or internationally • Opportunity to Attend a “Field School in France” during the summer • Students who enroll in Co-op will have a guarantees paid summer job for the duration of the program

French Immersion House of Commons Page Programme • 40 students are chosen each year to work as Pages in the House of Commons • Pages work part-time (approx. 15 hours per week) during their first year of study • Students must attend one of the universities located in the Nations Capitol • Must have an academic average of 80% • Speak both official languages • Science and Engineering students are ineligible • Student will receive $ 10,800 as a page and another $1200 upon completion of the program • Applications are available in the Fall of Grade 12

French Immersion University of Ottawa www.immersion.uOttawa.ca • Students have the opportunity to take immersion course and obtain a second language certificate • Receive personalized Language support • Must take an Immersion Admission test –receiving min. 60% • Obtain a minimum of 36 credits in French or FSL during their 4 years of undergraduate work to receive a Certificate.

Grade 12 EnhancementKwantlen College • Recommendation from the student’s counsellor • Students may enrol in Kwantlen’s open access registration courses. • Students may enter the program in the fall (September) or Spring (January) semesters of each academic year. • Completed applications, and application fees must be received by the Office of the Registrar by June 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the Spring semester
