American Indians • The biggest American Indian tribe that settled in the Ohio region was the Iroquois tribe. Iroquois were skilled craftsmen, warriors, and layers of the land. Known mostly for their farming techniques.
Early Ohio Years • Tremendous growth and development marked Ohio's first fifty years as a state. Ohio was still considered the “frontier” for much of the time as it was growing. Ohio then became one of the most productive agricultural regions and turnpikes, canals, and railroads led to the expansion of Ohio in the early part of the 1800’s.
Factories • In the early part of Ohio’s statehood, industry helped the expansion and growth of Ohio. Factories such as this bicycle shop helped Ohioans thrive in business and prosper in an emerging American society The Wright Bros. Factory

Grant elected president • 1903- Wright Bros., from Dayton, OH become first in flight • 1937- Ohio River floods, leaves 750,000 homeless • 1962- Ohioan John Glenn is first American to orbit the Earth.
