The first world war remains the most costly conflict in terms of casualties. • With a population of around 5 million, 416,809 men enlisted and out of them 60,000 of them were killed. • There was a total number of 16million deaths and 21 million wounded • It was military conflict that lasted from 1914-1918 • It was one of the largest wars in history

  3. Who is involved: • The conflict involved most of the world’s great powers • Austria Hungary, Germany, Turkey, Italy, (Italy changes team in 1916. They wanted the most profit.) • Serbia, Russia, France, Great Britain, Japan, U.S, Italy (After Italy moved out of other side in 1916.)

  4. When/Why it occurred: • It was known as the war to end all wars • It was triggered by the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on the 28th of June in 1914, although it was known that their was a long term causes that triggered it. • Germany surrendered on the 11th of November in 1918 it marked the end of the war.

  5. By the end of the war four major imperial powers had been defeated, Germany, Russia, Austro-Hungarian and the ottoman empires. • Another two ceased to exist • The map of central Europe had to be completely redrawn . • The league of nations was formed in the hope of preventing further wars.
