  1. Winter Recreation 2 7th Session – February 14 U5/U6 – Dribbling Games

When you get there • WEAR a watch and move on when natural lulls occur or you have been doing an activity for 15 mins • Make sure you are using names • Please wear a watch so you can start playing at ten after the hour at the latest (6:10pm or 7:10pm) • NO texting during the session • NO CLUB stuff that is not Woodbury Soccer Club – High School stuff is great

Activity 1 – Dribble Tag Every player has there ball with them get them to dribble around the space Players try to pass ball to hit another players ball Get players to keep track of how many they hit Ask them how may they got then challenge to get 2 more Show the different surfaces they can use and even touch your own foot so they can connect what you are saying with the surface you touch Outside of foot Inside of foot Laces Sole Toe Heel Get dribbling

Activity 2 – On a Ship Every player has a ball You are the captain of the boat and the players are your sailors Sailors have things they have to do based upon what you say “Swab the deck” – Players have ball in hand and move their hands like the ball is a mop “Birds” – Players toss ball in the air and catch to scare the birds away “Water” – Players roll the ball on the ground “Shark” – Players collapse on the ball to save it and scream as loud as they can “Pirates” – Players squeeze their ball tight to their body and scream as loud as they can Two hands one knee

Activity 3 – Drive Around Town Every player needs to be on a ball Players need to dribble around the space like cars Ask the players what kind of cars do what and then have them dribble like that car Every time players get close to one another have them say “beep, beep” If players fail to change speeds and you can catch them say they need to get gas. To get gas they need to come see you and do some little activity Toe taps, cart wheel, etc. The more you can use your imagination with different types of roads or weather the more fun you can have Don’t be afraid to ask the players for different driving around town ideas Beep Beep What kind of car goes fast? Drive like a xxx Beep Beep What kind of car goes slow? Truck Mini van

Activity 4 – Ship’s Across the Ocean Get ready to sing “Ships across ocean ships across the sea captain o’captain you can’t catch me” Get the players on one side of the field and you in the ocean. The player’s will sing the tune and then once they finish they will try to run across the ocean to the other side with out getting tagged If they get tagged they join you in the ocean trying to tag the other kids Start without a ball and then add it. Key’s You will have to lead the song Ships across the ocean ships across the sea. Captain o’captain you can’t catch me Ships across the ocean ships across the sea. Activity 5 – Play Split the players onto two teams Play 3v3 with a few subs Have a pile of balls ready to go that you will send onto the field when it goes out of bounds Each time a ball goes out of bounds or a goal is scored yell “New Ball” and distribute a new ball on the field Can you get the ball to players that haven’t been involved Can you distribute the ball to challenge the team that needs challenging Players will clump together and chase the ball – that is normal Parents will want to help collect balls have them hold onto the balls and then collect them when you run out so players get a rest New Ball

WR2 U5U6 Week 7 – Feb 14 Warm-up – Dribble Tag • Every player has a ball and gets dribbling • Players try to pass ball and hit other players ball Activity 2 – On a Ship • Every player has a ball • Players are given certain things to do • Players can skip or jog around until command is given Activity 3 – Drive Around Town • Every player with a ball • Gets players to act like cars • Players need to say “beep, beep” when they get to close • What kind of roads Activity 4 – Ship’s Across the Ocean • Let’s sing the song • Players zip from one side to the other and if they get tagged they join you Play
