Chapter 1 Early People. By: Brittney & Mercedes. Hunters and Gatherers. Men were the hunters, they hunted wooly rhinos, mastodons, bison, deer , mammoths , and more. Women were the gatherers , they gathered roots , berries, nuts, seeds, and fruits.

Hunters and Gatherers • Men were the hunters, they hunted wooly rhinos, mastodons, bison, deer , mammoths , and more. • Women were the gatherers , they gathered roots , berries, nuts, seeds, and fruits. • Men used an atlatl to get more power on throwing their spears. • Men and women moved place to place and located where the food sources were.
Farmers and Herders • Early farmers used sharp sticks , rocks , bones , and shells to farm. • Farming led to building permanent homes gathered together in villages. • Earliest crops were wheat and wild barley. • Herders tamed animals for human use. • Nomadic herders who traveled From place to place formed the pastoral society.
Jericho , Catal Huyuk , and Ur • Jericho is built in an oasis . Jericho has high walls to protect it from enemies and floods. • Catal Huyuk have houses built of mud . They enter their houses from the roof using a ladder. • Ur has a ziggurat made in the center of the houses . Ziggurat has a temple at the top. So they can be closer to their God . Ur developed into a complex society . • A complex society has a food source , laws , customs , and job specialization.
What We Learned We learned that Early people had different ways of doing things . Early people use technology to survive . They didn’t have what we have today. They had to work together. We are different in some ways . Like for example: We don’t have houses made of mud , we don’t enter our houses from the roof, we don’t need to use spears or atlatls . Early people had a lot of things to do. They made mostly all their things by hand . They all did what their good at.
