ALWAYS have Independent and Dependent Variable. Graphing. Independent Variable. D ependent Variable. The independent variable you change, the dependent variable is what you measure!. Given cookies and body weight, which “depends” on the other???. I will call on groups.

I will call on groups • As a group discuss independent variables • List some independent variables • List some dependent variables • why do you think or how do you know they are independent and/or dependent variables • (full sentences)
Graphs need 4 things… • Title • Independent variable (X axis, bottom) • Dependent varible (Y axis, side) • units Tip for remembering where variables go…
Distance over Time Distance (Meters) Time (seconds) • What two variables are we comparing in this graph? • What is the independent variable?
Each group will write a scenario. • Example: A car travels five miles in five minutes, then four miles in two minutes, and finally three miles in one minute. • Example: A person eats five cookies and gains two pounds, then eats two cookies and gains two pounds, then eats six cookies and gains one pound. • Each scenario has three events, with one dependent and one independent variable.
Lets graph it!!Swap papers and find the dependent and independent variables
