Summary of Draft • Highlights the requirements to detect, handle and diagnose control and data plane defects in point-to-multipoint MPLS networks: • Requested by SPs • Addresses OAM & SLA requirements • Follow-on from P2P MPLS LSP OAM Requirements • The requirements apply to all forms of P2MP MPLS LSPs, including: • P2MP Traffic Engineered (TE) LSPs • Multicast LSPs • Primary use of the draft is the continued development of P2MP MPLS specifications 63rd IETF Paris August 2005
Major Points • New draft, first release • The requirements described in P2P MPLS LSP OAM Reqs. are not repeated in this document • Initially the draft incorporates feedback from SPs, soon to add mailing list feedback 63rd IETF Paris August 2005
Current Items • Continued development of the draft • Improving/clarifying points • Adding new sections as necessary • Potential overlap with the P2P MPLS LSP OAM Req. draft • Decided not to merge I-Ds so that main OAM draft could complete WG and move forward • P2MP OAM requirements likely to take some more time 63rd IETF Paris August 2005
Next Actions • WG requested this draft • Make it a WG draft? • Identify areas that need to be added or improved • Please make suggestions on the mailing list • Issue next version of draft • Add mailing list feedback • Continue to poll SPs who have/plan to deploy P2MP MPLS networks 63rd IETF Paris August 2005
