  1. PWE3 MPLS and Ethernet OAM Interworkingdraft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt Dinesh Mohan (Nortel) Nabil Bitar (Verizon) Philipe Niger (France Telecom) Simon Delord (Uecomm) Ali Sajassi (Cisco) November 2008 IETF 73, Minneapolis, USA draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt

  2. Objectives • Define failure detection and notification procedures between Ethernet PWs and associated native Ethernet ACs • Defect State mapping between Ethernet PWs and associated Ethernet ACs • OAM message mapping between various Ethernet OAM mechanisms (e.g., 802.1ag) and PW OAM mechanisms (e.g., BFD) • Extensions to draft-ietf-pwe3-oam-msp-map-06.txt , "Pseudo Wire (PW) OAM Message Mapping", focusing on Ethernet PW services • Use same terminology and reference model for defect state mapping draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt

  3. History • draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-00.txtwas submitted in November 2007, and presented in IETF 71 (March 2008) in Philadelphia • draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt, current draft, addresses the comments received in the Philadelphia meeting and on the mailing list after that • PWE3 WG decision in Dublin was to re-confirm progressing the draft as a WG draft draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt

  4. Main Changes From Previous version 00 to 01 • Ali Sajassi (Cisco) joined as a co-editor • Addressed comments from the Philadelphia meeting and mailing list • Called out 802.3ah link OAM and Loss of Signal (LoS) for link failure detection and notification • Added E-LMI support draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt

  5. Next Steps • Publish draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-ethe-oam-iwk-01.txt as a WG document per Dublin outcome • Will be done immediately after the Minneapolis Meeting • Solicit additional input/comments from the WG • Some comments were related to defining a mandatory subset of the interworking mechanisms – more feedback and discussion are needed draft-mohan-pwe3-mpls-eth-oam-iwk-01.txt
