New Version of Timing System: • New version of the LHC timing system was deployed and tested with operational applications: timing editor and sequencer. Most of the issues detected were solved that day. Timing system operational again. • The following CTIMs (XTIMs) have been created: HX.COLLSTOP-CT & HX.OPTID-CT • - Postmortem re-enable delay: • Problem solved now. It only re-enables now with the beam dumped event of the concerned ring .OR. with the enable postmortem event. LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany
fRF ramp + handshakes + mode change + SMP + RF synchronization Each mode change was set (sequencer tasks) in SMP as well and the flags STABLE BEAMS and MOVABLE DEVICES ALLOWED IN generated accordingly taking into account the energy. ions fRF ramp down fRFsynchronizwith operational sequence: -resynch master frev B1&B2 - reset VCXO B1&B2 - resynch master 400 MHz B1&B2 - enables appropriate loops (phase, radial, synchro) Handshake for injection phase (EDMS 1031913). Emergency dump provoked by ATLAS: BCM went above the threshold. ATLAS ring permit went to FALSE accordingly. After the dump a Post Mortem event was sent and ALICE and LHCb receive it, ATLAS didn‘t, issue being followed up. (Exercise repeated for LHCb) Other tests: Some issues found with the ATLAS logic to be corrected. ATLAS and ALICE did actually switched on-off the detectors Emergency dump Adjust Handshake LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany

LHCb • Dipole & compensators synchronous ramp to 7 TeV equivalent. • while ramping the LHCb magnet (@3077) together with the compensator, we receivedan alarm that the IT fingers touched the beam pipe (for one second). While ramping another 700 A, the signal appeared again. We stopped the ramping up @ 3733A until further investigation. • Next day the magnet was ramped up to nominal field together with the compensators. This time the fingers of the Inner Tracker did not send any alarm. During the morning the IT (1+2 A) had been moved out by ~0.5 mm an a very small gap had been left between the finger and the beam pipe. • The reason why the IT was closer to the beam pipe than last year and why this alarm did not trigger last Friday when we ramped up to nominal field is not understood. LHCb • LHCb dipole, BCM and VELO interlock tested: retest all CIBU connections. This requires independently toggling the 2 redundant signals that each client must provide. • Test the timing of the spectrometer magnet interlocksignals that are sent to the respective CIBUs. For those tests the magnets must be powered and a magnet interlock triggered. In the CCC we can compare the power converter current evolution (automatic post-mortem data generation) with the timing of the signal that arrives via the CIBU to dump the beam. • SIS close bump verification: Test the software interlock that will ensure that the dipole and compensators always make a closed bump to avoid incidents at injection. Pre-pulse + BPM capture • Working fine. Issue: BPMFipSigt for SR1 has the wrong FESA version in LSA. Needs to be updated for the hardware commands • MKI synchronization • Working fine for MKI 8 now. To be done for MKI2. • MKI 8 pulse counting improvement • Conditioning validity (soft start) is only updated if magnets are really pulsed. MKI 2 already done before. LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany
Head Tail Monitor • Working fine. Few things to add: Bunch length measurement (has to be tested with beam); dp/p calculation • Tune viewer • Tune knobs are ready and tested; Trims from Tune viewer not tested yet. LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany
LBDS MCS • Updated almost all the many, many critical settings of the LBDS. MCS check consistent, sequence tasks tested: • *) BetsBem • *) BetsBei • *) IpocMkbH • *) IpocMkbV • *) IpocMkd • MKD and MKB settings have been done this week. LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany
TCDQ + LBDS arming and tracking • LBDS beam 1: one Bei table (MKBVD) has wrong values. Every ramp fails on BETS tracking. Issue to followed up... • We need to arm and test again this week. LHC Beam Commissioning Meeting V. Kain & R. Alemany
