INTRODUCTION • Increase in the road accidents due to service of private buses at unauthorized time schedules. • The system is implemented using three major technologies such as Smart Card, Zigbee and GPRS. • Recording of time schedules followed by buses is performed with the help of a software developed in JAVA and FTP server. • There is also a provision for accessing the server through a GPRS enabled mobile phone. OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT • To develop a system capable of monitoring the time schedules of each of the buses. • To reduce accidents due the service of private route buses at unauthorized time schedules • The range of usability of the system is obvious in the present era of increasing road accidents. DIFFICULTIES FACED • We had planned to use Visual Basic in our project. But it cant be used in all platforms. • We overcome this by using java which is compatible in almost all platforms TECHTOP'09 9
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES • Malpractices in the present punching system can be avoided. • Conservation of time. • User-friendly and secure. • Road accidents can be reduced. • Initial cost of implementation is high • Distance between reader and tag is very small(nearly 2cms) • System not capable for storing entire time schedule TECHTOP'09 10
CONCLUSION • Implementing this system helps in stopping the service of private buses at unauthorized time schedules. • The range of usability of the system is obvious in the present era of increasing road accidents. TECHTOP'09 11
