Vocabulary Words to Know • fragile • specimens • poisonous • treacherous • prey • volcanic • sluggish
This poster shows what life might have been like when the dinosaurs were alive. You can see a volcano in the background that is sending out ash. The volcanic gases could be poisonous to breathe. A walk in this landscape might have been treacherous because of the swamps and the animals. You can see there is a Velociraptor looking for prey. Will this sluggish, slow Protoceratops be its lunch? Or maybe the Velociraptor will try to steal some of the fragile, or easily breakable, eggs when Protoceratops isn’t looking. Fossil specimens have been found that show these two animals fighting each other. The fossils helped scientists learn that some dinosaurs defended their nests. Poster Talk ThroughThink, Pair, Share
