Nalco Overview • Nalco is the leading provider of integrated water treatment and process improvements services, chemicals and equipment programs for industrial and institutional applications that serves more than 60,000 customer locations representing a broad range of end markets. It has established a global presence with more than 10,000 employees operating in 130 countries, supported by a comprehensive network of manufacturing facilities, sales offices and research centers.
Purpose/Objectives • To implement common global processes, systems and metrics to improve our interactions with customers, optimizing re-use of the current SAP environments • 80+% of business on one system • Increase Focus on Account Management and Services • Process Centric Organization • Globally Standardized Processes • Common Performance Metrics (KPI’s)
Project Mission • Support new Nalco business models • Build a single Global SAP instance • Maximize standard SAP R/3 v4.6C functionality • Eliminate core SAP mods, user exits and ABAPs • Incorporate functionality currently outside SAP
Phase 1 – North America, Go-Live Oct 12, 2004 • Standardize Base North American SAP System as Much as Possible • System Build consisted of ~3,800 Transports and ~80 Redbook (manual setting) Changes to Existing System • Equivalent to a Functional Upgrade • R/3 North America was Updated to Accept Global Templates and Requirements • Completed with Minimal Problems
Challenges • 54 Modifications to SAP Code • 919 ABAP Customizations and User Exits • 607 Custom Reports Used • 327 Custom Transactions Used
Phase 2 – European Implementation, Jan 3, 2005 • Replace Current European BPCS System with SAP • Centralized Instance in North America • Global Reporting from BW 3.2 • Interface to Current Hyperion and Scala Systems
