Le project TPG pour MICE: Edda, Rikard, Jean-Pierre, Pierre MICE TPG Paramètres Détecteur des traces pour MICE • TPC: 1m long, 30cm diameter of the active area (40cm diameter field-cage) • Gas choice • To minimize the material in the beam and to keep the X-ray conversions to the minimum, a He-based mix is preferred. (He/CH4, He/CO2) • Amplification • By a 3-GEM structure. Large gains are needed if one wants to use a He-based mix • Readout • In 3 projections, over about 710K hexagonal pads in a 30cm diameter disk • Light in the longitudinal direction • As little as possible material in the beam • Light and uniform material for the readout amplification and readout planes • Electronics and connections out of the beam region • Capable to stand high particle flux • In an a harsh environment due to X-ray background from RF cavity dark currents (large amount of spurious hits)
