LSMS_Template.mdb LSMS feeds LSMS Path automatically! At this level we will take care of Step 1 (Barcode specification) and 2 (ID & password). You need to do this only once.
LSMS_Template.mdb: BC Specification Fill the Barcode Length and the Barcode Prefix. Check mark the two boxes on the left. Click Save.
LSMS_Template.mdb: ID & x-word The report.mdb should not be running during installation. ID & password: You can leave these blank. Or you can fill only ID. Click Install. Locate where the reports.mdb is.
NOTHING HAPPENS Lower your security level
Copy the template to use: KEEP the template as is. Rename Copy and paste
Open the copied LSMS (i.e. stacks_N.mdb) The report.mdb should not be running during installation.
reports.mdb Location ID = “60” Call Numbers = Between “N” and “P” (Upper Case)
Combining locations: 60 OR 47 Ascending – will sort books by location first Not sorted– when books are interfiled
Run LSMSMacro (TEST AA_ShelfList) • Generate a sound (BEAP). • Run the query (AA_ShelfList). • 3. Transfer it to LSMS. • 4. Quit report.mdb. LSMS should not be running!!
Ready for Shelf-reading / inventory. • Click Start LSMS. • Start / finish the session • with books in good order.
Types of problems 1. Scan errors 2. Wrong orders 3. Books with active status 4. Books not found 5. Books without barcodes

When ending a session This will trigger to log books not on shelf identified in this session. It will not include books with active status.
Training Issues Item Enumeration may cause some problems because there is no perfect to way to sort them. 16

Item not found • First search the book with the barcode. If you were able to locate an item with the barcode, check the call number in the system. • If the barcode does not retrieve any item, search the book with the call number.
P Identified as“Item not on shelf” when inventorying P section - I changed its status to “Missing” and “Circulation Review” When inventorying S section,recognized as“Item not found.” 19
Extra 1 and 9 missing 9 2 zeros instead of 3 zeros
Books-Not-On-Shelf • I separate them into two groups. • One with regular barcodes • One with bogus barcodes such as Nxxxx or TMPxxxx Search them.
Books Not On Shelf (BNOS)@Hamilton • Among 43,000 scan in N section • Initial BNOS count 4400 • 1/2 regular BC • (1/3 found, 1/3 not, 1/3 in diff location) • 1/2 N or TMP BC • (1/2+ on shelf w/o bc, etc)
These analyzed records were not attached to the relevant record.
Each one of these was entered as single item under different bib.
