  4. What is BATE? • Online Courses & Professional Development • Target Audience: Credentialed Teachers Needing • School Library Media Certification • Principal Certification

  5. How does BATE work? • MOA accepting transfer credits from partners • Some jointly designed courses in Educational Leadership • Ideally students could accelerate their added credential programs in EL or LM

  6. Key Areas to Consider • Institutional matters • Departmental matters • Faculty issues • Student issues • Management issues

  7. Why did we collaborate? • Share expertise • Maximize scarce resources in challenged states • MT, NV, SD, AK, WY initially • Provide more expedient course delivery

  8. Why not collaborate? • Institutional differences and interests • Geographic distances • Easier workloads and time savings for faculty • Differing state requirements for educators • Collaborative course development

  9. Challenges Facing BATE Collaboration • Geographic location • Busy, creative people • Sense of collaboration • Multi-institutional differences and commitment • Cultural differences • Communication styles
