PHENIX EMCAL readiness for Run V Sebastian White for T.Awes, E.Kistenev,A.Denisov, G.David S.Fokin, I.Yushmanov,I.Shein, S. Stoll,A.Yanovich,S.Mioduszewski (and others not present at last EMC meeting) Despite large number of active people, physics output per FTE is by far the highest in EMC wrt rest of PHENIX, if not all RHIC experiments.
Legacy from Run IV • Pb/Glass- groups of PMT’s (typically ~1/4 of a sector) shifted in gain periodically • Suspect that due to noise on the CW reference line • This was tracked by LED calib data • Currently setting up monitor of this in order to repair before run start • Pb/Sc & Pb/Gl - assorted bad bases, PMT’s.ie ~50 in Pb/Gl working through the list. Expect on-time completion
Status from last run easily available(we have no secrets) ie. Sector E1 deadmap <------ Sector E1 noisy channels------------>
Ongoing preparations for Run • Going through inventory of spare electronics@BNL • Would like to have 30 full kits for FEM’s • Will need fair amount of LED/laser data in standalone over coming weeks • Strong presence @BNL from IHEP and KIAE supporting hardware setup of Sc, Glass systems
other • Pb/Sc calibrations moving away from laser to data based procedures (except TOF lc and slewing curve) • A. Yanovich and L. Aphecetche identified as EMC Oncal representatives • Many other issues in preparation for run-ie decision in consultation w. PWG’s to keep same dynamic range, etc. • Many interactions w. PWG’s. ie • Uniform framework for EMC tof PID • Analysis of ert trigger performance in Run V
Initial conclusion of Xie Wei and Xinhua Li analysis note. Bad! <------ Final version after several EMC mtgs. Much better!! ----------------------->
