  1. Instructional DesignStandard 4 A quality system develops and employs instructional strategies and activities in support of student achievement of the expectations for learning defined by the curriculum.

  2. Analyzes and uses the results of assessments of student learning to improve instructional design and effectiveness. • Analyze student summative and formative test scores to address individual, class, and school strengths and weaknesses. • Collaborative subject area or grade level teams analyze the curriculum, instruction, and student learning to make adjustments as identified from assessments. Designs and employs instructional strategies and activities that are research-based and reflective of best practice. • Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum based on Grade Level Expectations • Open Court Reading series • Project Read • H.O.I.S.T. • Accelerated Reader • High School Re-Design • Sustained silent reading • Book studies by administrators • Research, guest speakers, and action research on a school and parish level • Discovery/Inquiry learning • SHURLEY English • Peer Tutoring • Jigsaw • Library Technology Connection to the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum

  5. Aligns the instructional design, including strategies and action plans, with the system’s mission and expectations for student learning. • Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum – GLE’s and activities • Interventions, Enrichment, Electives that support the academic program/Maintenance/Review Activities • Tutoring programs/Academic Support Center • LEAP Survivor and other test preparation programs • Daily Review, Daily Instructional Focus, Question of the Day, Daily Oral Grammar/Daily Oral Language • Concentration on higher order thinking skills, Bloom’s Taxonomy • Emphasis on assessment for the purpose of analyzing student learning and adjusting instruction. • Parent Center • Collaborative team planning • Instructional strategies – School Improvement Plan

Implements an instructional design that provides all students with instruction that stimulates and enhances intellectual and creative development of higher order thinking skills and requires students to apply their learning. • Assessment – emphasis on higher order and application (Bloom’s Taxonomy) • Format of assessments – constructed response, increase in writing • Rigor and Relevance • High expectations • Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum – many activities are higher level activities • Collaborative team planning – emphasis on increasing student achievement to a higher level • Programs and activities that are higher level and hands on
