Step # 1 – Ensure that you have enabled your Partner Benefit • Please make sure you have followed the guide listed on our SharePoint Site : Office 365 Advisor Partner Experience • After you have configured your staff some Lync Accounts, lets connect them with Tech Data by enabling Federation!
Step #2 – Log in as your Admin to Office 365 Select the manage link directly under “Lync Online”
Step #3 – View Lync Online Settings If you see that Domain Federation Is Enabled, then you are done.If not, then click the Domain federation Link
Step #4 – Enable Federation Click “edit” beside the Domain Federation Status, then select Allow Federation with All Domains Except those I block, and hit OK
You have the ability to control this on a per user basis, to do that you need to click each user independently from the Office 365 Admin Portal • You also have the ability to block specific domains, as when you enable this setting you are able to connect with ALL Office 365 users. • You can also select to allow federation with Only the domains you specify, this is easier then creating a very large blacklist
Step #5 – Enable Federation With Public IM To do this, you would Click enable. This can also be done on A per user basis. When enabled, you can Add Hotmail, Live and Other MSN contacts To Lync.
This process may take up to 24 hours to complete. • When it is done, please add myself kevin.wilton@techdata365.com so that you can reach me for any Synchronous communications!
