Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise Membership Retention and Recruitment
Step 1 - Identify Identify well-qualified members of our community. These individuals should be professional or community leaders of strong character who have a commitment to service. Ask them to be your guest at a Rotary club meeting.
Step 2 - Introduce Introduce prospective members to Rotary by informing them about Rotary International’s programs and your club’s service projects.
Step 3 - Invite Invite prospective members Invite prospective members to join RCNS. Highlight potential areas of involvement in the club and RI based on the prospective member’s personal interests.
Step 4 - Induct Induct new members in a dignified and meaningful manner. Invite spouses, partners, and family members to attend.
Step 5 – Inform & Orient Inform new members about your club and RI by focusing on: • Opportunities for Service • Rotary policies and Procedures • Rotary history and achievements Consider distributing the New Member Information Kit(426-EN) to new members.
Red Ribbon Removal • We have assigned Arnold Bain to track and help persons with red ribbons to remove their ribbons. • If you need a red ribbon removal tracking form you can any one of us on the Membership Committee. • Our objective is to help new members get rid of their red ribbons sooner.
Criteria for Red Ribbon Removal • Introduce a guest speaker • Give a Vote of thanks • Attend 3 different Rotary Club Meetings (other than Nassau Sunrise) • Give the Toast • Recite the prayer • Introduce the visiting Rotarians
Sponsor Involvement • Sponsors will now be provided with special pins once you sponsor a new member. • Sponsors will be invited to assist with the red ribbon removal process.
Step 6 - Involve Immediately involve new members in: • Club committees • Service projects • Weekly club meetings • Social activities • Family of Rotary
Family of Rotary • Family of Rotary Announcements – Births and deaths – fruit baskets. • Raffle for Anniversaries • Birthday • Club Anniversary • Wedding Anniversary • Birthday Donations – start again in January 2011
Family of Rotary Events 2010 • August 22, 2010 – Backpack Give-A-Way for children in the community of St. Matthews Union Baptist Church, The Grove • August 28, 2010 – Backpack Give-A-Way Kids in the Community near Seashells Café Arundel Street. • September 2010 - Coastal Clean Up (Date, venue and time TBA) • October 30, 2010 - Project Lend-A-Hand – Venue TBA • November 6, 2010 – Creating ornaments for the Jesse Tree - Venue TBA • December 18, 2010 – Presentation of gifts at Hawaiian Luau. • April 30, 2011 – Easter Egg Hunt, BNT • May 14, 2011 – Project Lend-A-Hand with the Inner Wheel Club – Venue TBA • June 25, 2011 – Beach Picnic at Blackbeard’s Cay
Step 7 - Educate There are two approaches a new member can take to acquire a Rotary education: self-education and continuing education offered by the club.
Continuing Education A continuing education plan offered by the club includes • Frequent communication of Rotary news and information • Rotary Minute • Club training programs focused on continuing education • RLI
2010/2011 Club Training • Subject matter experts will be invited to present to the club. • Orientation sessions • Sponsor Training • Club Runner Training • Rotary Topics and Rotary Minutes
Self-Education Self-education activities include: • Informational reading such as • The ABC’s of Rotary • Rotary Foundation Facts • THE ROTARIAN or regional magazines • Exploring club, district, and RI Web sites • Attending a board or committee meeting • Attending a district meeting, such as a Rotary Foundation Seminar
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) • The RLI seeks to have Rotary Clubs in member districts identify those Rotarians who seem to have the POTENTIAL for future club leadership (not necessarily as club presidents) and provide those so identified with a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills for voluntary organizations. • Cost $95.00 • Nassau Session: October 2 & 3, 2010
