  3. History Humanitas Gavazzeni is a private multi-specialty hospital, accredited with National Health Service in the acute care industry, both on an inpatient and an outpatient basis. The hospital was founded in 1903 by dr Silvio Gavazzeni. Recognised at first as one of the most important center for nervous disease and digestive system, during the '20 became a real hospital. From 1999 it has been part of Humanitas Group.

  12. Study and clinical trial Humanitas Gavazzeni is authorized to participate in multi-center studies,but is not authorized to carry out drug trials monocentric. It is also allowed to conduct experiments monocentric non-pharmacological, surgical also. Humanitas Gavazzeni is not authorized to conduct Phase IV trials unless specifically requested by the Ministry of Health. A clinical trial can be initiated only after a favorable opinion of the Committee of Bioethics local authority – ASL Bergamo, and formal approval of the G.M of Humanitas Gavazzeni.

Education • Every year several courses, conventions, and round tables are organized for the physicians, nurses, technicians, etc operating in the hospital and on the whole territory within the framework of ongoing compulsory training schemes. • Humanitas Gavazzeni, during the last 3 years, organized several meetings: • 70 events for physicians • 12 events for nurses • 15 events for other professions

  14. Volunteers - Elios project At the side of the patient The Elios project is designed to support the patient and his family in a painful and difficult situation. Elios involves the presence of volunteers prepared with a thorough training program, in the departments of Humanitas Gavazzeni, in addition they provide services to make patient’s hospital stay as serene as possible.
