(URS, Kinkisharyo) • Description: • 15.9 route miles double-track light rail transit with 24 stations • Over $1 billion in Design-Build Construction • 20-yr Operations & Maintenance contract • Includes manufacture of 52 light rail vehicles • Performance: • Opened April 2000 for Phase 1 revenue service. On-time performance of 98.85% from the commencement of operations to date.
System Description – Right-of-Way • 15.9 Route Miles – all double track • Operates primarily on grade-separated right-of-way • Approx. two (2) miles of street-running (Trains operate in mixed traffic) • Twenty-five (25) Interlockings • Twenty-four (24) Stations • Light Rail Tunnel – 4,096 feet in length. Station platform located 160 feet from the surface
System Description – Fleet Information • A Total fleet of 52 LRVs(High Performance, Low Floor Cars) • Ready Line of 42 (18 two-car sets and 6 single units) LRVs weekdays; 9 (single units) LRVs weekends • LRV Capacity on a single unit-68 seated, 120 Standing • MU capable with Dual end operation • Electrified Propulsion System (750VDC) • Full Maintenance Facility capable of: • Heavy Repairs – Body Shop • Daily Inspections – Paint Booth • Car Wash – Wheel Truing
Hours of Operation & Scheduled Trains • Weekday operation – 4:30 AM to 2:45 AM • 507 Weekday trips (5 min. trunk headway and 10 min. branch headway during peak service) • 4 AM Bayonne Flyers (8th St. Station to Hoboken) • 4 PM Bayonne Flyers (Hoboken Station to 8th St.) • Weekend operation – 5:30 AM to 2:45 AM • 238 Weekend trips (7.5 min. trunk headway and 20 min. branch headway)
