  3. 1 First, you open up SMART notebook, and at the top click on the Response tab. 2 Next, you should see teacher tools on that list. Select that and it should bring you to a page that looks like this. 3 When you get to this you should the fill out the information and click save.

  4. 4 After your information is finished and saved it should take you to your Gradebook 5 Next, select add a class under Next steps. 6 Fill out your information then click add. Under the left hand corner where is says grade book should be your class you created.

  5. Adding Students

  6. *You might want to make your ID Numbers short, (I learned this the hard way) because these are what the students will type in to join your class.* To add students to your class, open up Microsoft Excel and use the following format to put in your students' information: IMPORTANT: You must use the ID Number, First Name, Last Name format or the names will not register.

  7. Next, go back to teacher tools and click Add students to your class. Click me!! Click me!!!!!

  8. Select the class you want to add students to, then click Next.

  9. Next, it will ask you where you want to import your student list from. Click Microsoft Excel, then click Next.

  10. Select your class list file, then click Open.

  11. You can view your list of students in the Students tab.

  12. Creating an Assessment

  13. Open up SMART Notebook. Click the SMART Response icon.

  14. Click Title Page under Create an assessment to get started.

  15. This window should pop up. Enter your information, then click Add. Click me!! Click me!!! Down here!!!

  16. This is YOUR title page! Edit your information as you please.

  17. Click the Next Steps tab. To add a question to your assessment, click Add a question to the next page.

  18. Choose your question type.

  19. Type your question and click Next. Then, select the correct answer to your question and click Finish.

  20. Congratulations! You've made your first question! To keep adding questions, click Add a question to the next page and repeat steps.

  21. To edit your question's information at any time, click the Properties tab.

  22. When you're finished editing your questions, click the End button.

  23. You have set up the basics of your SMART Response System!
